Movie Review : The Accountant (2016)

[acc4.jpg]

Synopsis
Once The Treasury Department pursues an accountant with underworld ties, he evades them by taking a legitimate client – but when he learns millions of dollars are missing from the company, can he uncover the culprit before the authorities catch up with him?

Story
Christopher Wolff (Affleck) runs a rather non-descript accounting firm in a strip mall in the Midwest; it returns a modest profit, but where he really gets most of his extremely substantial income is by plying his trade for some very high-powered international criminals.  Wolff works for many dangerous men and given his own extensive training in martial arts and weapons, he happens to be pretty dangerous himself.  Why is Wolff able to command such high prices for his services?  Obviously, it’s because he’s quite good.  However, he’s so good at his chosen occupation because of his disability:  he’s a mathematical genius who’s been treated for autism since childhood.

But Wolff’s life is far from trouble-free.  The United States government is hot on his tail.  In order to prosecute these criminals, they have to follow the money – and all of their money leads to Wolff.  As a result, the Treasury Department is tasked with investigating; lead officer Ray King (J.K. Simmons) recruits Special Agent Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) to head up the case, which could turn out to redefine their careers if it’s handled properly.  Medina immediately gets to work on trying to find who exactly is helping these malefactors launder their money.

Once Wolff learns the government may be pursuing him, he tries to drop off their radar by taking a more standard consulting job at a robotics firm.  The owner of the company (John Lithgow) hired him to ascertain where and how millions of his organization’s dollars disappeared.  Helping Wolff in his research is an employee (Anna Kendrick) who initially reported the discrepancy.  But when Wolff figures out that the root cause of the missing funds is something more nefarious than just a simple bookkeeping error, will he be willing to risk his life to bring the real culprit to justice?

Positive
One thing that is very visible from the film The Accountant is how extensively this film to prioritize the character development of each character in this film. The film is well able to show the sides of Chritian Wolff where he as a person with autism disorder wants "normal" things like socializing with a friend or co-worker, but because of the disorder he becomes awkward. The character of Wolff is also very well made where his past is very influential in his present self.

It seems to me that I always mention a specific mental disorder that is autism which is certainly an obstacle that is not wanted by anyone, but it should be said that this film can very well be able to "simulate" people with autism disabilities. Perhaps this is supported by the performance of Ben Affleck is very spectacular. Each expression, dialogue, intonation of voice, and motion style is very selling character that he played. In this film there is no performance below average - average. All the players in this movie can imaged his character well, although his character only appears briefly as a backstory character.

From the story side of the movie The Accountant has a fairly complex story where the film is jumping - jump time from the past to the present in some places and a fairly long storyline so it takes the attention of the audience. So I need to warn that this film needs attention from us as audiences to be understood more deeply. The way the director and the film crew filmed The Accountant is very good because each action scene can be seen clearly without a shaky cam, each scene interactions between characters, individual scenes that show Wolff characters deeper and panning scenes taken well. No camera shooting looks awkward, every direction the camera imaging an emotion or a situation that is happening well.

Negative
Now we go to the negative side of this film where although above I say that this movie has a good story, but there are times - the time where the film was too long. There are some scenes that existed in this film that can be honestly deleted and ultimately will not have a major impact on the overall story of this movie. Plus the pacing of this film slowly that can cause the film audiences bored and have a bad impression on the first 30 minutes of this film. In addition, action scenes may be for some people can be spelled out too far away from each other so you could say pacing from this movie is rather uneven. One more thing is that at the end of the film ends unfortunately there is a very expository exposition dialogue that may be for some people appreciate the exposition of such a story but is not it better if the story is exposed to the scenes and dialogue that exists. The problem is that the filmmakers have shown that they are able to create an interesting scene with dialogue that can absorb the audience. This causes the scene of this exposition to feel forced. Like on the steps of the executive hollywood says that the film is too complex and needs an exposition for the audience to understand. This honestly shows that the films from the beginning already appreciate the audience by providing interesting dialogue and scenes and complex stories eventually sell themselves to the status of generic films that do not need the attention of the audience.

Advice
The Accountant would be more entertaining if it just acknowledged its own nerdy outlandishness. Still, it’s something to watch Affleck play a man who has trouble expressing his feelings and struggles to read those of others.

Passive and Active Voice Theory

A. Teori tentang Active and Passive Voice :
Active sentence (active voice) is a sentence where the subject of his work, by contrast, passive sentence (passive voice) is a sentence where the subject was subjected to the job by the object of the sentence. Active voice is more often used in daily life compared with the passive voice. However, often we find the passive voice in the newspapers, articles in magazines and scholarly writings. Passive voice is used because the object of the active voice is more important information than his subject.

1. Object of the active voice (the soil) becomes the subject of the passive voice
2. Subject of the active voice (we) became the object of the passive voice. Note also that there is a change of subject pronoun ‘We’ became the object pronoun ‘us’.
3. Verb1 (fertilize) the active voice becomes verb3 (fertilized) on the passive voice.
4. He added some ‘is’ in front verb3. Be used is dependent on the subject of passive voice and tenses used. (Note the passive voice patterns below).
5. He added the word ‘by’ behind verb3. However, if the object of the passive voice is considered not important or unknown, then the object is usually not mentioned and so was the word ‘by’.
6. Especially for progressive sentences (present, past, past perfect, future, past future, and past perfect continuous future, need to add a ‘being’ in front verb3). If you did not add “being”, tensisnya will change, not a progressive / continuous again. Consider the examples in point h – o below.
Subject + be + Verb3 + by + Object + modifier

B. Find out the exercise of Active and Passive :
a). If the active voice in simple present tense, then ‘be’ it is the passive voice is, am or acres.

• Passive : This plant is watered by her every two days.

• Passive : They were met by him yesterday
• Active : She watered this plant this morning
• Passive : This plant was watered by her this morning

c). If the active voice in present perfect tense, the ‘be’ passive voice it is been placed after the auxiliary has or have, so that a ‘has been’ or ‘have been’.

• Active : He has met them
• Passive : They have been met by him
• Active : She has watered this plant for 5 minutes.

• Passive : They will be met by him tomorrow.
• Active : She will water this plant this afternoon.
• Passive : This plant will be watered by her this afternoon.
• Active : The farmers are going to harvest the crops next week

Conversation on the Phone

Generally speaking, when you are calling in a business context (making calls related to employment, finances, law, health or applications of any sort), you should show politeness by using words like:
  • could
  • would
  • can
  • may

when making a request. When you ask for something, or receive help or information, you should use:
  • please
  • thank you
  • thank you very much.

It is also okay to use some of the informal features of the English language such as short forms, phrasal verbs and words like okay and bye – in other words, everyday English! So phrases like:
  • ‘I’m off to a conference, okay, bye’,
  • ‘Hang on a moment, I’ll put you through’

If it is more of an informal phone conversation (speaking to a friend, family member, close work colleague or even a friend of a friend), then a high level of formality is usually not required, but you should still speak with a polite manner, as it is seen as respectful.

1. Taking / Receiving a Call

You may need to use these if you are answering someone else’s phone, because they are unable to answer it themselves, or if you are answering an office phone.

Formal
  • ‘Hello, this is ___ speaking’
  • ‘___ speaking, how may I help you?’

Informal
  • ‘Hello, John’s phone’

2. Telephone Problems

If you don’t understand everything the other person is saying, be honest. Tell the other person immediately, otherwise you might miss some important information! Most people will appreciate your honesty, and will be happy to oblige.

Formal
  • ‘I’m afraid I can’t hear you very well’
  • ‘Would you mind speaking up a bit please?’
  • I’m afraid my English isn’t very good, could you speak slowly please?’
  • ‘Could you repeat that please?’

Informal
  • ‘Sorry, I didn’t catch that’
  • ‘Say that again please?’
  • ‘I can’t hear you very well’
  • ‘Sorry, this line is quite bad’

3. Saying Goodbye

The easiest part of the conversation! Simply be polite, and speak with a friendly manner.

Formal
  • ‘Thank you for calling’
  • ‘Have a good day’
  • ‘Goodbye’

Informal
  • ‘Bye!’
  • ‘Talk soon’
  • ‘Speak to you again soon’

Example:

Emir : Assalamualaikum, Hallo, Irfan, Where are you? It is 3.10. I have been waiting for you.
Irfan : Waalaikumsalam, Hallo, Emir, I am sorry. I will be late. There is problem with my motorcycle.
Emir : Where are you now?
Irfan : I am at the pet shop near Rizky's House.
Emir : Will it take much time to fix the motorcylce?
Irfan : I dont know, maybe it will take about thirty minutes.
Emir : Seriously? You should contact Rizky, Because he khows how to fix a motorcycle.
Irfan : Do you have Rizky's number? Would you spell it?
Emir : Yes, I have, I will spell it. The number is 021-123678.
Irfan : Ok, Thank you, Emir. Assalamualaikum.
Emir : Your welcome. Waalaikumsalam.

Rizky : Hallo, Good morning. Who is speaking?
Irfan : Hallo, Good morning, I am Irfan your classmate.
Rizky : Oh Irfan, what's up bro? Seldom rarely you call me in this time.
Irfan : I have problem with my motorcycle.
Rizky : Hmm I see. Maybe you should check the plug.
Irfan : Sorry, I can’t hear you very well. Could you spell it again?
Rizky : P-L-U-G. Sometimes the plug is problem on motorcycle.
Irfan : Could you come here, I am really don't know about problem of motorcycle.
Rizky : Okay, I will come to you. Where are you now?
Irfan : I am at pet shop near your house.
Rizky : Ok, just wait a minute.
Irfan : Thanks a lot, Rizky. Assalamualaikum.
Rizky : Your welcome. Waalaikumsalam.

Dua Perusahaan Teh Berebut Merek Dagang

DISCLAIMER

Penggugat mendaftarkan perkara No. 37/P.S.MERK/201X/PN.N.Jkt.Pst pada 21 Mei 2014.

Definisi Hukum Perdata Menurut Para Ahli

Scholten van Oud Haarlem diangkat menjadi ketua panitia kodifikasi dengan Mr. A.A. Kodifikasi KUHPdt. Indonesia diumumkan pada tanggal 30 April 1847 melalui Staatsblad No. 23 dan berlaku Januari 1984

Setelah Indonesia Merdeka berdasarkan aturan Pasal 2 aturan peralihan UUD 1945, KUHPdt.

Tips Jalan - Jalan Ke Kuala Lumpur! MINIM BUDGET!

Tepat pada hari Jum'at tanggal 10 Februari 2017, gue sama temen gue yang biasa disapa di kelas XXX bernama xCI COOL WKWK. Dia adalah mahasiswa ababil G-World University Fakultas Ekonomi Jurusan Akuntansi yang tidak jelas, yaelah lengkap amat wkwk. Jadi gini tujuan kita kesono sebenarnya ga ada. Bermula cuman untuk iseng2 saja. Lumayan buat penuh-penuhin IG wkwk. Tapi setelah tiket sudah dibeli, tujuan kita menjadi jelas yaitu untuk jalan2 dan foto2 saja wkwk lumayan kan di luar negeri wkwk selama 4 hari di Kuala Lumpur, walaupun duit pas-pasan sih wkwk. Tapi yang penting happy. Jadi setelah gue mengalami travelling ini gue akan memberi some tips untuk menjelajahi Kuala Lumpur dengan minim budget. Berikut Tips nya ;

1. PASSPORT
